A former Tasmanian doctor extradited from New South Wales has appeared in a Hobart court, facing multiple historical sexual abuse charges against two minors dating back nearly three decades.
Michael Antony Welch, 64, faced Hobart Magistrates Court charged with three counts of rape and three counts of indecent assault, according to the ABC.
The former GP chose not to apply for bail during his court appearance.
Police allege the rape charges date back to 1993 and involve a 15-year-old victim.
The indecent assault charges allegedly occurred between 2004 and 2005 against an 18-year-old.

Authorities claim the offences took place while Welch was working as a registered general practitioner in Tasmania.
The court has scheduled Welch’s next appearance for Monday.
