The man, who was visiting Tasmania, fell at the corner of Murray and Davey streets about 6pm on Thursday.
He remains in the Royal Hobart Hospital receiving treatment.
The missing items included a gold chain necklace engraved with the date ’14/07/1959′ and two gold wedding bands.
Police believed the jewellery went missing around the time of the fall or shortly afterwards.
“These items – precious to the family – are back where they belong,” police said.
“Thanks everyone for the concern shown.”
