A house fire in Rocky Cape that completely destroyed a home caused an estimated $700,000 in damages, the Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) says.

The blaze on Pollards Road was reported just before 3:30pm on Friday, September 13.

TFS crews from Montumana, Boat Harbour, Wynyard, Stanley and Sisters Beach responded to the incident and found the house engulfed in flames upon arrival.

An investigation has since determined the cause to be accidental, with an electrical fault the likely culprit.

The owners of the property took to social media to say they “lost everything” in the fire.

“Believe in karma. It exists. What you put out, you get back,” they wrote.

“The business operators of Wynyard have rallied behind us and organised accommodation, clothing and hampers of food.”

“We lost everything but those that have witnessed us help so many over the journey said it was our turn to be given a hand.”

They said they will work hard to rebuild.
