Fire investigation to be launched after blaze damages Queens Walk unit

Firefighters are working to extinguish a blaze that broke out in a unit at a multi-storey residential building on Queens Walk in New Town.

Tasmania Fire Service crews from Hobart and Glenorchy responded to the incident around 3:15pm on Thursday.

The building’s fire alarm system activated, alerting residents to evacuate.

“Crews are currently working to fully extinguish the fire and ensure it has not spread to neighbouring units,” the fire service said.

“The cause of the fire is not yet known and a fire investigation will be conducted once the scene is safe.”
