The pair are facing numerous offences including motor vehicle stealing, drug-related charges and breaches of bail, with police confirming the stolen firearms have not yet been recovered.

Tasmania Police said no one was physically injured during the incident, which occurred in the rural area approximately 15 kilometres south of Burnie.

Police had earlier warned the public of two men wearing dark hooded tops and dark pants who may have been attempting to hitchhike in the area shortly after the incident.
