The Bureau of Meteorology issued a minor flood warning for the North Esk River.

The North Esk warning covers low-lying areas around Corra Linn, Relbia, St Leonards, Norwood, Ravenswood and Mowbray, with flooding likely over the next 6-12 hours.

Police say a number of reports of water over roads in the north and north-west of the state have been received, including one that has resulted in a crash.

“A vehicle travelling on Oaks Road near Quercus Park has hit water over the road and flipped on its side,” police said.

“Motorists are asked to take care and drive to the conditions and to slow down particularly on dark rural roads with limited visibility.”

The Bureau of Meteorology said a cold front over Tasmania would move east during Sunday evening, with an associated low pressure system to pass south of the state on Monday.

“Some low-lying properties may become isolated by flood waters,” the SES warned. “Property, livestock, equipment and crops in low lying areas may be at risk from flood waters.”

The weather bureau forecast showers would contract to the west and north late Sunday evening, with thunderstorms about northern areas continuing until early evening. North to northwesterly winds are expected.

Monday’s outlook shows showers mainly affecting western and northern areas, contracting to the west, south and Bass Strait Islands during the evening.
