The Foo Fighters will play their only Australian show in more than two years when they hit the stage in Launceston next month.
The Grammy winners confirmed on Wednesday that they will perform at UTAS Stadium on January 24, 2026, marking their first-ever gig in the northern Tasmanian city.
It will also be the band’s first appearance in Tasmania since selling out Hobart’s MyStateBank Arena in 2015.
Stadiums Tasmania chief executive James Avery said landing the exclusive concert was a significant achievement for the state.

“Foo Fighters are one of the most popular and enduring musical acts on the planet and to have them play a stadium concert in Launceston is a sign of things to come for Tasmania,” he said.
“Hosting an artist of this calibre proves that Tasmania can deliver events of a national and international standard while retaining the unique character that sets us apart.”

“This is a band with a true sense of community and a history of performing surprise events in a variety of regions and we know Tasmanians and indeed fans from around Australia and beyond will love this unique concert event.”
The state government, Treasurer Eric Abetz said, “helped facilitate” the show with a $500,000 contribution and that the event is expected to deliver an 11-to-1 return on that investment. The Launceston City Council is also contributing $150,000.
“We are particularly grateful for the support of the Tasmanian Government as well as the City of Launceston that enabled us to secure this event, in what is a truly collaborative effort,” Avery added.
The announcement follows days of speculation after promoter Frontier Touring teased fans with a billboard showing the band’s logo atop a North Hobart pub.

The band then posted a video drawing the Tasmanian Devil with the caption “TAKE COVER TASSIE!!!”
Frontier Touring chief executive Dion Brant said the one-night-only format was familiar territory for the Foo Fighters, who played a surprise stadium show in Geelong in 2022.
“It’s been a decade since they were last in Tasmania and it’s huge that this summer will be their first ever concert in Launceston,” he said.
Telstra Plus members can access presale tickets from December 5, with Frontier members gaining access from December 8.
General tickets go on sale December 10 at 4pm.
