Sue Hickey has been elected as the new Mayor of Glenorchy, following a by-election triggered by the resignation of former Mayor Bec Thomas.
Hickey, who previously served as Lord Mayor of Hobart from 2014 until 2018, received 11,861 final votes, or 55.39%.
She defeated Russell Yaxley, who received 9,551 final votes, or 44.61%.
In the race for councillor, Justin Stringer was successful with 10,445 final votes, or 53.50%, beating Nina Hamasaki, who received 9,080 votes, or 46.5%.
Hickey and Stringer will serve until the next ordinary elections in 2026.

“Thank you to everyone who supported me,” Hickey said at the completion of counting on Saturday.
“I promise to be a mayor for everyone and make us all proud of our city.”
An elector poll held alongside the by-election found overwhelming support for the future of the Glenorchy Pool.
89.02% of the 22,000 people who voted backed urgent repairs and reopening, while 93.03% supported applying for future government funding for redevelopment.
