A 70-year-old former staff member at a Tasmanian school has been charged with persistent sexual abuse of a child.
It follows an investigation by the Northern Family and Sex Crimes Division.
The man was taken into custody this morning and now faces serious allegations relating to crimes allegedly committed between 2018 and 2020.
Detectives have charged the man with persistent sexual abuse of a child or young person.
The accused is expected to face the Launceston Magistrates Court on February 18 2026.

Authorities have not released details about the alleged victim or the specific school where the man was employed.
Tasmania Police reminded the public that anyone suspecting child abuse should report it immediately by calling 131 444, or triple zero (000) if a child is in immediate danger.
