Tasmanian TV personalities have paid tribute to their former colleague Nathan Templeton following his sudden passing in Melbourne.
Templeton, a former reporter for Southern Cross Tasmania and more recently Seven’s Sunrise, was found unresponsive by the Barwon River near Geelong on Monday.
The 44-year-old reportedly suffered a medical episode while out walking his dog.
In a statement, his family said: “Our hearts are broken for an adoring father and a wonderful friend, who’ll be missed by many.”
Former colleagues from Southern Cross have taken to social media to remember Templeton, with ex-news anchor Jo Palmer saying he was an “all round magnificent human”.
“Feeling such sadness today to learn we have lost a member of our old Southern Cross News team, our beautiful friend Nathan Templeton,” she said.
“Our hearts are with his young family.”
WIN News Director and friend Alex Johnston said hearing the news had ‘broken his heart’.
“One of the warmest, funniest people I’ve ever known,” he wrote on Twitter/X.
“Have the fondest memories of Templeton and I writing parody news stories in each other’s scripts on a Saturday morning. We were politely told to take it to email after one nearly went to air.”
“Can’t believe we’ve lost him. Life is so bloody precious.”
