Four men rescued from Burnie reef after being cut off by tide

Four fishermen have been rescued from a reef at West Beach after becoming stranded by a rising tide this afternoon.

Burnie Surf Life Saving Club members sprang into action following a triple-zero emergency call shortly before 3pm on Friday.

The men had been fishing from the reef when changing tide conditions left them unable to safely return to shore.

Surf lifesavers successfully retrieved all four men from their position.

One of the fishermen is receiving precautionary medical treatment, though the nature of his condition has not been disclosed.
