A surfer has reported spotting a large shark off South Arm beach near Hobart, prompting police to issue a safety warning for swimmers and surfers.
The 4-metre shark was seen about 200 metres from the main beach exit around 11:30am on Sunday.
Tasmania Police confirmed they received the report and advised people to take extra care in the area.
The sighting comes just one day after another shark encounter at Seven Mile Beach in Stanley, in the state’s north-west.
On Saturday evening, a fisherman reported a 3-4 metre shark, believed to be a great white, became tangled in his fishing line around 7:40pm.

“The shark was cut free and it swam away, so people should be aware of the potential risks of going into the water in that area,” police said in a statement.
