More concept images of the multi-purpose stadium proposed for Macquarie Point have been unveiled, as the project moves towards a crucial upper house vote.
The Macquarie Point Development Corporation’s digital handbook follows a week-long public exhibition at the Goods Shed, where architectural plans and video walkthroughs of the waterfront venue were on display.
The stadium’s fate now lies with the Legislative Council, which is set to vote on the project in December.
Minister for Macquarie Point Urban Renewal Eric Abetz said the development represented a “generational opportunity” for Tasmania.

“This vibrant precinct will transform Hobart’s waterfront, supporting jobs and our economy,” he said.
“The thoughtful design is truly Tasmanian.”

The showcase materials outline plans for corporate hospitality, including the Chair’s Club, Field Club, corporate suites and a range of function spaces.
They also highlight proposed amenities such as a sports bar, restaurant, media facilities and a continuous concourse designed to improve crowd movement.
Accessibility and transport solutions for the waterfront site are also detailed, along with videos showing sun and shadow studies assessing the stadium’s environmental impact.
Other footage offers behind-the-scenes glimpses of player areas and back-of-house operations.

“The Macquarie Point showcase makes it clear what is at stake,” Abetz said.
The physical showcase will be displayed at locations across the state in the new year.
