Geeveston man arrested for string of crimes across southern Tasmania

A young man from Geeveston has been charged with over a dozen offences following a “significant” investigation by Tasmania Police detectives.

The 24-year-old is accused of committing the crimes around greater Hobart in June.

He allegedly targeted properties in Blackmans Bay, Mountain River, Huonville, Copping, Primrose Sands, Glenorchy, South Hobart, Cambridge, New Town, Gagebrook and Midway Point.

As a result of the investigation, the man is facing charges for home burglary, motor vehicle stealing and possessing an item used for the administration of a controlled drug.

He is also facing multiple other charges for attempted burglary, stealing, trespass, drive whilst disqualified, evading police in a motor vehicle and breach of bail.

Detective Sergeant Michael Manning thanked members of the public for their help in the investigation.

“We want to thank the community for their support, which helped detectives to gather evidence and apprehend the offender, and stopped the pattern of crime from continuing,” he said.

The man is being held in custody to reappear in court in July.
