Thick black smoke as Glenorchy house goes up in flames

Firefighters have rushed to a house fire in Glenorchy tonight after multiple triple-zero (000) calls reported a home “well alight”.

The blaze broke out on Vieste Drive just after 7pm on Tuesday, sending thick plumes of smoke across the suburban street.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus attacked the flames from the front yard as neighbours gathered to watch.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.

It is unclear whether anyone was inside the property at the time.
