A historic jetty in Tasmania’s south has been destroyed by fire overnight.
The fire at the Gordon jetty had been burning for some time before firefighters arrived, causing significant damage to the structure.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with arson not ruled out.
Marine and Safety Tasmania (MAST) has issued a warning to boaties to beware of floating debris from the jetty.
The jetty is temporarily closed and cannot be used until further notice.
