Grants of up to $11,650 available for those impacted by Dolphin Sands fire

Residents impacted by the Dolphin Sands bushfire on Tasmania’s east coast can now apply for emergency grants of up to $11,650.

The federal and state governments have jointly activated the funding under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

Grants are available for temporary living expenses, replacement of essential household items and property repairs.

Households without power for five or more days can also access outage assistance.

Both governments will also fund debris removal to make properties safe and habitable.

We know that losing access to your home or essential household items can be devastating, and these grants are designed to ease some of that burden and help families focus on recovery,” she said.

“This assistance is about more than just financial support.”

“It’s about giving people confidence that they’re not facing this alone.”

“My heart goes out to residents who have lost homes, shacks and other property,” he said.

“I want to thank the federal government for working with us to deliver much-needed support.”

The Glamorgan Spring Bay Council will receive separate disaster assistance to help community members facing hardship.

The grants target low-income households whose principal residence was damaged by the bushfire.

Those experiencing prolonged power outages are also covered.

Each of the three main grants provides up to $11,650 per household, covering temporary accommodation, lost items and repairs.

McBain praised emergency services and volunteers for their efforts protecting lives and property.

“We’ll keep working together to provide the help that’s needed now and into the future,” she said.
