A children’s playground in Hobart’s northern suburbs has been trashed by hoons who tore up the grass with their vehicles.

The vandals struck Berriedale Reserve on Alcorso Drive sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Photos taken on Tuesday show dozens of half-circle skid marks ripped into the grass around the main play equipment.

The fenced playground itself escaped damage, as did trees in the area and furniture.

But sections of the park’s grass have been destroyed.

“Large areas of turf at the park on Alcorso Drive have been damaged by a vehicle – or vehicles – being driven on the soft surface,” police said.

Officers are investigating the hooning and are urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact Glenorchy Police on 131 444 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
