Three new Green faces elected to state parliament have picked up their shadow portfolios, as their Leader Rosalie Woodruff says her party is ready to “fight for real change”.
“Tasmanians voted Green because we offered a pathway to change, asking us to fight for a fully funded health service, more homes, real climate action and environmental protection,’ she said.
Woodruff will tackle the shadow Attorney-General role along with Aboriginal Affairs, Justice and Integrity, Climate Change, Forests, LGBTIQ rights and head the Commission of Inquiry Response.
Her Deputy Leader Vica Bayley will spearhead Business, Treasury and Finance, Energy, Environment and Biodiversity, Education, Housing and Consumer Protection, Sport and Events, Veterans Affairs and Arts.
“In his first six months in Parliament, Vica defiantly represented Tasmanians who want much needed investment in housing instead of the Liberals’ stadium folly and he will keep the heat on in the new parliament,” Woodruff said.
Newly elected Lyons MP Tabatha Badger is set to take charge of Primary Industries, Police, Fire and Emergency Management, Parks and Public Land, Skills and Training, Tourism and Hospitality Prevention of Family Violence, Small Business, Science and Information, Technology and Mining.
Nurse, counsellor and parliament newcomer Cecily Rosol is the Greens go-to for Health and Mental Wellbeing, Children and Youth, Corrections and Rehabilitation, Community Services, Heritage, Trade and Economic Development, Disability Services and Women’s Affairs.
Former Hobart Deputy Lord Mayor and veteran councillor Helen Burnet has taken on the Preventative Health and Community Wellbeing portfolio, alongside Local Government, Planning, Infrastructure, Transport, Water, Workplace Relations and Safety, Multicultural Affairs and Waste.
