A group of Victorian motorcyclists has been caught travelling at over 160km/h on a rural Tasmanian road.
Police said several riders were stopped by officers near Bothwell on Highland Lakes Road on Friday morning after they were detected speeding.
Inspector Luke Horne said the group was initially observed riding south from Liawenee at a speed of 164km/h.
“While we intercepted seven Victorian riders near Bothwell, who admitted to speeding and will all be proceeded against, they were not the only riders initially observed,” he said.
“We are requesting witnesses and dashcam footage from anyone who may have seen these riders.”

Horne said the “recent examples of high-risk riding” on Tasmanian roads are “not just numbers in a report”.
“They’re real people, real lives and real tragedies waiting to happen.”
“We don’t want to knock on the door of your loved ones to tell them you’re not coming home.”
“But if this kind of reckless behaviour continues, that’s exactly what will happen.”
“Ride within your limits. Ride to the conditions. Ride like your life depends on it. Because it does.”
