Gunman on the run after man allegedly shot in Gagebrook

Police have launched an investigation after a man was allegedly shot in the leg at Gagebrook in Hobart’s northern suburbs.

The incident occurred around 5:45pm on Sunday near Sattler Street, prompting an increased police presence in the area.

Authorities confirmed the victim sustained a gunshot wound to his lower leg and was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment.

His condition is currently unknown.

Police are searching for a person of interest who reportedly fled the scene shortly after the shooting in what has been described as a silver or blue mid-2000s Kia Sportage SUV.

Authorities are urging anyone with information that could assist with the investigation to contact Glenorchy CIB on 131 444 and quote reference number OR794136.
