Helicopter deployed as police search for tipper truck driver near Launceston

Tasmania Police are searching for a white Hino tipper truck and its driver in the state’s rural north.

The vehicle is believed to be in the Tayene, Mount Barrow or Targa areas.

Ground crews and the police helicopter have been deployed to assist in the search.

Police have urged the public not to approach the truck or its driver.

“Anyone who sees the vehicle is asked to contact police on 131 444,” authorities said in a statement.

“Members of the public are advised to not approach the vehicle or the driver but to call police and report the location.”

Police have not released details about the circumstances of the search.
