A section of the Bass Highway near Westbury has been closed to east-bound traffic after an injured foal and hay bales spilled onto the roadway.
The incident occurred approximately three kilometres west of Westbury at around 2:35pm today.
Police believe the young horse and hay bales fell from a horse float travelling along the highway, which has carried on travelling.
Emergency services are currently at the scene managing the situation while authorities work to clear the debris and attend to the injured animal.

Police are seeking information from the public regarding the incident.
“Anyone who was [transporting] a bay coloured foal in the area around 2:35pm is asked to contact police,” a spokesperson said.
