Hungry Jack’s is set to open its doors at Hobart Airport, with the popular burger chain slated to begin operations after the completion of an upgraded terminal in early 2027.

The flame-grilled burger outlet, founded in 1971, is expected to create approximately 50 jobs for the local community when it opens at the airport.

The new restaurant forms part of Hobart Airport’s significant expansion plans, which include doubling the size of the departures area, increasing seating capacity and creating a new arrivals corridor with centralised access to baggage reclaim.

“Our $200 million terminal expansion will create an unmistakably Tasmanian experience for travellers when they touch-down at the state’s most popular gateway,” Hobart Airport CEO Norris Carter said last year.

The design incorporates distinctly Tasmanian elements including Russet Tan walls inspired by the Bay of Fires, forest green upholstery and blackwood tables crafted from timber recovered from an 1880s bridge in Tasmania’s South West.

The development follows the recent completion of a $130 million runway upgrade at the airport, which was finished in August 2025.

More than 2.8 million passengers travelled through Hobart Airport during the last financial year.

Forecasts predict this will increase to 3.5 million by 2030.
