The owners of a popular central-Hobart bagel bakery Bury Me Standing have announced that they will be closing the doors of the store next month after a successful 12-year run.
Husband and wife Cohen Bassingthwaite and Alesha Peckels opened the Bathrust Street destination in 2012 and later opened a second store in Cairns, where they now both live, but have decided it is ‘time for a new chapter’ away from Tasmania.
In a social media post, the couple said their “time has come to an end” and will miss their loyal Hobart customers.
“Our final day of trade is Sunday, December 3rd, so you’ve got a couple more weeks to get in and stock up on lovely bagels and sweet treats,” they wrote.
They say they are excited to continue their culinary journey at their Spence Street location in Cairns.
The bakery is renowned for its handcrafted bagels and iced coffees, the recipes of which fans will soon be able to get their hands on in an upcoming cookbook.
