Hobart will once again transform into a sea of red this winter as businesses across the city Paint The Town Red.
The activation will run from June 1-21, coinciding with Dark Mofo as thousands of visitors descend on the state.
Destination Southern Tasmania CEO Alex Heroys said the initiative offers local businesses a chance to align with the festival’s distinctive atmosphere.
“By incorporating red-themed elements – be it lighting, décor, or special menu items – businesses can enhance the festival atmosphere and attract both locals and visitors,” Heroys said.

“This is a unique chance to be part of a collective effort that illuminates our city and enriches the Dark Mofo experience for everyone.”
Several prominent Hobart venues have already committed to the initiative, including DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart, which plans to transform its Leatherwood Bar & Kitchen.

The hotel’s Food & Beverage Manager, Brandon Linsley, said they have developed an exclusive menu of themed cocktails for the occasion.
“Each drink is designed to evoke the essence of Dark Mofo, creating a truly immersive experience for our guests,” Linsley said.
DoubleTree’s General Manager, Bobby Shankar, added that the hotel will host a special wine dinner in collaboration with Dr Edge.
“We’re excited to offer an unforgettable evening of exceptional cuisine paired with exquisite wines, all inspired by the bold and creative essence of the festival,” Shankar said.

Businesses wishing to participate must register their red activations by May 7 to ensure inclusion on the Dark Mofo website.
Prizes will be available for participating businesses, with more details to be announced closer to the event.
