Hobart Deputy Lord Mayor Dr Zelinda Sherlock has officially joined the Greens party.
Sherlock cited shared values and a desire for integrity-driven leadership as key factors in her decision.
“I felt compelled to join the Greens. This is a party grounded in values I align with,” Sherlock said following the announcement.
Sherlock was elected to the Hobart City Council in 2018.

She became deputy mayor in April 2024 after previous deputy Helen Burnet resigned to take up a seat in state parliament under the Greens.
The Greens welcomed Sherlock to their ranks, describing her as “a leader who believes politics should connect people, stand for justice and lead with integrity.”

She joins fellow Greens members on the Hobart City Council, including councillor Gemma Kitsos, the party’s state director, and councillor Bill Harvey.
