Hobart employment expo brings together 100 employers at MyState Bank Arena

More than 100 employers and training providers have descended on MyState Bank Arena today for southern Tasmania’s largest employment expo.

The Hobart and Southern Tasmania Employment & Careers Expo is on today and is offering free access to job vacancies, apprenticeships and career pathways across multiple industries.

The Glenorchy Jobs Hub is delivering the event with funding from Glenorchy City Council and the City of Hobart.

Organisers expect hundreds of jobseekers from across the south to attend.

Attendees can speak directly with organisations that are actively recruiting and explore study options with training providers.

The expo will also feature free resume reviews and interview practice sessions to help improve job readiness and confidence.

Interactive exhibits and virtual experiences will showcase different career pathways through hands-on demonstrations.

The event targets people at all career stages, from school leavers to those seeking new training or returning to work.

Glenorchy Mayor Sue Hickey said the expo focuses on long-term career development rather than quick fixes.

“This expo isn’t just about finding a job for today – it’s about helping people build a sustainable and rewarding career for tomorrow,” she said.

Hobart Deputy Lord Mayor Dr Zelinda Sherlock said “every member” of the community should “feel connected to opportunity, supported in their goals, and confident about their future”.

“By bringing employers, trainers and jobseekers together in one welcoming space, this event strengthens our community, opens doors and helps build a thriving, inclusive Hobart for everyone.”

The expo runs from 10am to 4pm with free parking and shuttle services from the Glenorchy Bus Mall to the arena.
