A desperate family are searching for their grandparent’s ashes after they were allegedly stolen from a Hobart cemetery recently.

Speaking to Pulse, the family says they have been left “absolutely shattered that anyone could stoop to this level” after the theft of their loved ones from the Cornelian Bay cemetery.

They believe the ashes of both Allan (Geoff) Cox and Cynthia Ann Cox were taken during the weekend of the Hobart Show between the 26th and 28th of October.

They are hopeful that they will be able to retrieve them and hope the offender may ‘have the heart’ to let someone know where they have been discarded – or even return them.

The family urge anyone that may have seen “anything suspicious” at Cornelian Bay over the show weekend to get in touch with Police.

Police have confirmed that officers are actively investigating the matter and urge anyone with information to contact them on 131 444.

The incident report reference #TAI2300058185 can be quoted.
