Part of Argyle Street will be temporarily closed next week as construction continues on the Royal Hobart Hospital’s new breast care centre.
The footpath on the west side of Argyle Street will be shut between Liverpool Street and Bathurst Street from Monday to Tuesday.
The bike lane and two traffic lanes will also be partially closed near Bathurst Street.
A large mobile crane will be set up on the street between 8:30am and 3:30pm each day to deliver materials to level six of the Liverpool Street Clinics.
The bus stop on Argyle Street before Bathurst Street and the Sultan Car Park will remain open during the works.
The Department of Health says traffic controllers will be stationed to direct vehicles and help pedestrians navigate the closures.
Detour routes will be in place for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.
Access will be restored by 3:30pm on Tuesday once the crane is removed from the site, the department said.
Fit-out works are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, with further cranage operations planned for later in October.
The works are subject to weather conditions which may result in delays, the department said.
