11 drivers have been caught speeding through a school zone in Austins Ferry during the morning school run.

Inspector Jason Klug said the drivers were stopped by officers on Wednesday for travelling faster than the 40km/h speed limit in the school zone, while others were caught flying down Main Road.

“Disappointingly, police also issued an infringement notice to a driver who was driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and had not safely restrained a two-year-old child,” he said.

“We conduct these sorts of operations to keep everyone safe on our roads and these results from drivers are not good enough.”

Klug said the majority of community members do the right thing, but there are still people who “appear to think they can flout the rules”.

“Police will continue to conduct high visibility patrols to encourage all drivers to keep themselves, their passengers and other road users safe by obeying the road rules,” he said.
