Hobart teen Maddi Brooks dominates for Australia at the Paris Olympics

Hobart teenager Maddison Brooks has scored her first Olympic goal, helping the Hockeyroos seal a 3-0 win over the USA at the Paris Olympics.

The 19-year-old OHA Hockey Club player from was brought to the starting line-up for Wednesday night’s match after sitting out the 4-0 defeat of Great Britain.

Alice Arnott and Renee Taylor scored first-half goals to put Australia in control before Brooks hammered home the third in the 53rd minute.

Hockey Australia have described Brooks’ goal as a “sensational strike off a crafty period of team play”.

“Alice Arnott was again in the thick of it, setting Maddison up with a fine pass in the circle before the Tassie midfielder put it away,” the organisation said.

The Hockeyroos next face a clash against Tokyo Olympic silver medallists Argentina on Friday and then Spain in their final group match.
