Hobart fans can cheer on the Matildas under a giant screen tonight as a free watch party takes over Hobart’s Parliament Lawns for the Asian Cup Final.
A video-truck screen will broadcast pre-game coverage from 7pm, with kick-off at 8pm.
The event caps off a packed day of sport in the city, with the Devils kicking off their first VFL game of the season at North Hobart Oval at 12:05pm.
Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds said the watch party was a chance for locals to rally behind the national team.

“For soccer fans, this is a fantastic opportunity to come together, enjoy the community spirit and cheer on our Tillies in the Asian Cup Final right in the heart of the city,” she said.
Fans are encouraged to grab dinner or drinks from nearby venues or bring takeaway for a picnic-style evening on the lawns.

There will be a limited number of beanbags and mats, but anyone planning to stay for the full match should bring their own fold-out chairs or picnic blankets.
“Pick up something delicious from the Salamanca precinct or bring what you need, settle in and enjoy supporting Australia’s women’s team on the big screen,” Reynolds said.
