Tasmanian LEGO fans won’t need to hop across Bass Strait soon for their brick fix, with the toy giant announcing its first-ever “certified store” will open in the state later this year.
The 330-square-metre flagship store, located near the Hobart waterfront on Elizabeth Street, will be one of the largest LEGO stores in both Australia and New Zealand when it opens its doors this October.
The announcement comes as LEGO’s retail partner Alquemie Group rides what they say is a wave of strong performance in both countries.
The Hobart store will be the 23rd store in the region for the partnership.

“We are thrilled to announce the opening of our first LEGO certified store in Tasmania,” Alquemie Group’s managing director of licensed brands Matthew Robertson said.
“We also look forward to announcing additional store openings in the coming months as we continue to strategically grow the portfolio.”

The Hobart store will feature LEGO’s fan-favourite ‘Pick and Build’ wall, where customers can buy individual bricks by volume, plus stations to create custom minifigure characters.
It will also highlight special builds of iconic Tasmanian landmarks and native wildlife.
Troy Taylor, LEGO’s vice-president for Australia and New Zealand, said the store would offer “an unmatched personalised and interactive retail experience for all ages”.
“We look forward to officially welcoming fans of all ages into our new and inspiring environment in late 2025,” he said.
