A southern Tasmanian Uber Eats driver claims they were pepper-sprayed and robbed by a teenage girl while trying to deliver an alcohol order in Warrane on Wednesday night.
The driver, who posted anonymously on a community social media page, said the incident occured at night when they arrived at the delivery location near Mornington.
“When I arrived, a teenage girl was already waiting outside on the street,” the driver wrote.
“As required by law, I asked to scan her ID before handing over the order.”

The driver said the teenager then attacked them instead of showing identification.
“Instead of cooperating, she suddenly pepper-sprayed me, pushed me, snatched the order from my hands and ran away,” the driver wrote.

“My eyes are still burning from the spray.”
The driver said they reported the incident to Uber and posted online because they “needed to vent” about the experience.
“It’s becoming really difficult to earn an honest living when things like this happen,” they wrote.
“I’m honestly quite shaken and traumatised, I can’t even sleep right now.”

A police spokesperson said a report had not yet been lodged with police about the incident.
The spokesperson said people who experience or witness crime are encouraged to contact police on 131 444 or report to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at crimestopperstas.com.au.
Uber did not respond to requests for comment.
