Tasmania’s inline hockey players will have the chance to test their skills against some of the best in the country this week as the inaugural Tasmania Inline Hockey Cup takes over Hobart’s Princes Wharf 1.
PW1 has been transformed using a tile hockey rink that has been used interstate for similar competitions.
The tournament is taking place from 23-28 January and will feature players from Under 10s to Division 1.
Interstate and New Zealand teams will join local sides for the six-day event, which will include training camps led by internationally recognised coaches Itan Chavira and Junior Cadiz from Wheel Hub Asia.
The Cup organisers have also partnered with Wheel Hub Asia to bring their College Prospect Camp to Australia for the first time.
This camp will give Australia and New Zealand’s top young inline players aged 14-17 the chance to learn, compete and potentially earn a funded trip to the Farm Tough Hockey College Prospect Camp in Wisconsin, USA, in June 2025.
The organisers hope the inaugural Cup will raise the profile of the sport in Tasmania.
Entry is free for spectators, with food and beverages available at the event.
