Hobart’s Waffle On Cafe is facing the prospect of having to close its doors for good.
The popular Liverpool Street store has been placed on the market, just a few years shy of its tenth anniversary.
Owners Michele and Daniel Johnstone and Belinda Chambers took to social media on Monday to announce the news with a heartfelt message, saying “all good things must come to end”.
“Sadly it is now time to say good bye to Waffle On. It has been one hell of a journey and none of it would have been possible without you,” they wrote.
“It is a very bittersweet moment for us as we begin to wind back and serve you all your last waffles with Waffle On.”

The business will close its doors permanently on May 25th if a buyer cannot be found.
“This is a very sad moment for us as Waffle On has been our whole world for the last eight years,” they said.
“So we want to wish a big heartfelt thank you to all of our customers that continued to support us … thank you to everybody that made all this possible.”
Their menu, featuring gourmet sweet waffles like Apple and Rhubarb Crumble and savoury waffles like Crispy Buttermilk Chicken, is especially popular among the Gluten Free and Vegan communities.
