Launceston Airport is facing “unprecedented demand” for parking during the Christmas and Boxing Day holiday rush, with airport officials confirming all car parks have reached full capacity.
The airport issued an urgent notice to travellers early on Boxing Day, advising them to seek alternative transportation methods.
“We’re currently experiencing unprecedented demand and our car parks are at full capacity,” Launceston Airport wrote.
Airport management is now recommending travellers use alternative options to reach the terminal.

“If you’re heading to the airport, we recommend using alternate parking options or booking an Uber, taxi or shuttle transfer,” the statement read.
The parking shortage affects all of the airport’s car parks, including the premium P1 undercover facility which normally charges from $36 per day and the P2, P4 and P5 Long Stay areas which start at $25 daily.

It is also affecting the P3 Short Stay car park, which offers 30 minutes of free parking for pick-ups and drop-offs.
The airport has promised to keep travellers updated as spaces become available, though no timeline has been provided for when parking may become available.
The news comes ahead of Launceston Airport bracing for its busiest day in history next month as thousands of fans prepare to descend on the city for Foo Fighters’ sold-out stadium show.
