Homemade firearms discovered in north-west man’s home during police raid

A 23-year-old man from Preston has been charged with dealing in firearms following a police operation earlier this month.

The north-west man was arrested and charged with multiple firearms offences following the raid on February 6.

Officers say they found two homemade firearms and a gel blaster during the targeted search of his home.

His charges include possessing a firearm without a licence, failing to take reasonable precautions with a firearm and possessing an unregistered firearm.

The man remains in custody until his scheduled appearance in the Devonport Magistrates Court next month.
