Over 600 homes and businesses in Tasmania’s south remain without power this morning due to fallen trees damaging powerlines from overnight storms.

Areas affected by the outages include Grove, Longley, Lower Longley and Mountain River, with restoration times yet to be confirmed.

Smaller outages are also impacting areas in Ranelagh, Granton, Eaglehawk Neck and Nubeena.

TasNetworks earlier resolved two “significant outages” in the south, including one that left 1,792 on the Tasman Peninsula without power and another that knocked out power to 819 properties in the Kingston and Sandfly areas.

“Fallen trees bringing down powerlines is suspected,” the line operator said

“Crews are attending and will restore power as soon as possible.”

Customers are advised to check the TasNetworks website for updates around midday.
