Businesses in the Huon Valley are reportedly being targeted by scammers pretending to be council staff.
The scammers are using the email address ‘[email protected]’ and are sending out fraudulent requests for payments.

“This is not a legitimate council email address,” the council said, reminding businesses to exercise caution.
“Do not click any links and do not make any payments.”
The council urged anyone who is unsure about the authenticity of any communication supposedly received from them to contact the council office directly.
“Council’s official email address is [email protected],” they said.
