It is understood Browne was employed on a 5-year contract, with the Council’s website showing he received a “commencing remuneration package of $246,175” and a “cash component of $200,000”.

Browne said he was grateful for the opportunity to work with the Huon Valley community, staff and councillors to develop a fresh Community Vision for the Valley.

Huon Valley mayor Sally Doyle thanked Brown for his commitment and contributions and promised a national search to fill the role.

Lachlan Kranz, the council’s director of Infrastructure Climate and Environment, will take on the role of Acting General Manager.

Browne’s last day will be Tuesday 3 October 2023.
