Huon Valley teen loses Ford Falcon after evading police near Tahune Airwalk

A 17-year-old Port Huon driver has had his vehicle clamped for a month after failing to stop for police near the popular Tahune Airwalk tourist attraction.

The teen was driving a Ford Falcon on Arve Road when he allegedly evaded officers at about 2:15pm on April 12.

Police from the Geeveston station were carrying out patrols as part of ongoing road safety operations in the area when they attempted to stop the vehicle.

The Ford was located shortly after the incident and subsequently clamped for 28 days under Tasmania’s vehicle seizure laws.

The teenager will face traffic-related charges via summons, with authorities continuing their crackdown on dangerous driving behaviours across the state.

Police have urged the public to play their part in road safety by reporting dangerous driving when they witness it.

“Police will continue to detect and deter hooning and anti-social behaviour on Tasmanian roads,” a police spokesperson said.
