Dillon Goss has completed a remarkable 1,326km run around Tasmania to raise awareness and funds for mental health.
The 20-year-old began his adventure in Devonport on November 2 and returned to the same city on Saturday night, 22 days later.
He covered the north-west and West Coast right down to Hobart, before exploring the east coast and Northern Midlands.
“It hit me today when I started running on the [Bass] Highway and looked at the sign that said ‘Devonport’,” he said before setting off on his final leg.
“I started to feel and get pretty emotional about this whole journey … I was in shock that I’ve actually got to this point.”
Despite facing challenges along the way, Goss remained determined and pushed through, admitting there were times when he doubted his ability to finish.
“There was times during this run where I was convinced I wasn’t gonna make it this far,” he said.
“But I got through and won the fight. I can’t believe how quick it’s went by to be honest.”
Reflecting on the experience, Goss described it as the “best” of his life, saying it has taught him valuable lessons about his mind, body and the kindness of strangers.
“And I’ve learned that if you put your mind to a goal and you do everything you possibly can to make it happen, It’s gonna happen.”
Through his efforts, Goss raised an impressive $27,920 for local mental health charity SPEAK UP! StayChatTY, which encourages open conversations about mental health.
