The damaged sculpture, created by artists Gillie and Marc, features their signature characters Rabbitwoman and Dogman, with Rabbitwoman striking the famous Marilyn Monroe pose from “The Seven Year Itch.”

Installed in 2014, the artwork was part of a joint venture between local stakeholders, including Salamanca Square Inc, to enhance the cultural significance of the popular precinct.

The bronze sculpture is become a popular attraction for tourists, with many regularly posing for photos alongside the whimsical characters.

The Hobart City Council are yet to comment on how and when the statue can be repaired.
