Bass MP Rebekah Pentland has announced she is pregnant with her fourth child.
The Independent MP took to social media to share the news as a “modest but bold policy” to grow Tasmania’s population, saying the little one was due in April next year.
“While my policy will only increase the state’s population by 0.0001%, it’s a step in the right direction,” she said.
Pentland thanked her husband Alex for his support in “formulating this important policy for Tasmania’s future”.
“I couldn’t have done it without him,” she said.
The MP said she hopes to receive support from across the parliament when her “policy” comes to fruition.
“I’m determined to not miss a beat when it comes to representing the people of Bass so my colleagues in Parliament should prepare to see a lot of my new policy once it arrives,” she said.
“I hope to set a positive example for other working women who announce bold policies.”
“We shouldn’t be forced to compromise.”
