A street in the Launceston suburb of Kings Meadows is expected to remain closed for several hours due to a possible gas leak.
Police have shut Southgate Drive between Ernest Street and Streamside Court while the Tasmania Fire Service investigates the incident.

People are asked to avoid the area “until the scene is deemed safe”, police said.
The affected area is home to a number of residential properties and borders the Connector Park industrial area.
Updated: The area was reopened shortly before 1pm on Wednesday.
