Police later charged a 52-year-old man from Hobart with murder in connection to the incident.

West Hobart house goes up in flames, sends smoke across city
FRIDAY: A West Hobart home has sustained an estimated $500,000 worth of damages after it was gutted by fire this afternoon.
Firefighters had to cut through a wall to gain access to the property, which they say took around 2 hours to bring under control.
No one was home at the time of the fire, with forensic investigations currently underway to determine the cause of the blaze.
EARLIER: A house fire on Hobart’s Liverpool Street is sending smoke across the city this afternoon.
The Tasmania Fire Service have issued a warning to West Hobart residents, asking those in the area to avoid smoke.
“People who don’t need to be in the immediate area should stay away,” they said.
Liverpool Street is currently closed from the Molle Street intersection and accessible to residents only.
The fire is understood to have started in the downstairs laundry of the house.
