Nick Stoddart has gone from NBL1 bench warmer to Tasmania JackJumpers regular in the space of 12 months.
The young guard has signed a one-year contract with the JackJumpers for NBL26 after making the most of limited chances in his debut season.
Stoddart began NBL25 as a development player, relatively unknown outside of NBL1 circles. But when injuries hit the squad, he stepped up and proved he could hold his own at the top level.
With Sean Macdonald injured late in the season, Stoddart got his chance. He played 10 games, scored 44 points and had his best night against South East Melbourne Phoenix with 14 points.
“It is a testament to the hard work Nick put in, after gaining himself a position as a development player last year and stepping up when needed,” Chief Operations Officer Darren Smith said.

“We are excited to see his development continue.”
Smith said the young guard handled the step up well, coping with the NBL’s pace and physicality better than expected. His shooting caught attention from fans, though he still has plenty of room to grow.
“I’m super grateful for everything that’s happened so far, it’s been a hell of a ride so far in Tassie and I cannot wait to continue the journey,” Stoddart said.
“I’m super grateful for it and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
During the off-season, Stoddart has been playing for the Ballarat Miners, averaging 19.4 points, 2.5 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game.
He will return to Tasmania in July for preseason training.
The JackJumpers have one roster spot left to fill before the NBL26 season begins.
