JackJumpers star Milton Doyle to miss New Zealand game for father’s funeral

Tasmanian JackJumpers’ star American import Milton Doyle will not be travelling with the team to New Zealand this weekend.

Club CEO Christine Flanagan said Chicago-born Doyle had returned to the United States with his wife and children to attend the his fathers funeral.

“On behalf of the entire club, I want to express my heartfelt condolences to the Doyle family. Our thoughts are with Milton and his family at this time, and we will support them in any way we can through this difficult period,” Finnegan said.

The American player learned of the news that his father had died just hours before the JackJumpers played Adelaide last Saturday.

Having joined the JackJumpers in the 2022-23 season, the 30-year-old is averaging 16 points and 4.7 assists per game this season.

Lachie Barker, a 27-year-old from Somerset, will replace Doyle in the squad for the upcoming NBL contest against the NZ Breakers.

The game will take place on Saturday at 5:30pm in Auckland.

Tasmania, currently in second place, has won four of their last five games, while the Breakers are currently third from the bottom with just four wins in 12 starts.
